No Change in Parole Supervision Fees in Mississippi

Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant vetoed a bill which would have eased the financial hardship for certain ex-offenders to pay their monthly probation, parole, and other supervision fees.

Senate Bill 2841 would have created automatic waivers for the $55.00 monthly fee to ex-offenders living under the federal poverty level.  However, the Mississippi Department of Corrections objected to the idea because it would mean less money for the department.
