California Inmates Can Reduce Sentence with Certifications
California regulators have given initial approval for new guidelines allowing inmates to reduce their sentences for completing a high school diploma, college degree, work skills certification, or self-help programs.
The guidelines are the first step in overhauling the parole system under Proposition 57, which is expected to cut statewide prison population by 9,500 inmates.
Proposition 57 passed during the November, 2016 election.
Alabama Law Passed Ordering Chemical Castration for Paroled Child Molesters
Alabama Governor Kay Ivey signed into law the chemical castration of child molesters as a condition of their parole. The new law goes into effect in September.
